1st March

We had half term and then had to cancel a meeting- that was going to be our 'Thinking day meeting'. Ah well, people get ill at this time of year!


So this week we played 'catch up' and managed to: Find out about our craft badge work, laid a table nicely for a proper english Cream Tea, prepared scones, whipped cream and made anzac biscuits. The Sixers and seconders wrote out a recipe for a scrapbook that we'll be putting together for our sister troop.


Mrs Goodyear kindly stepped in to help with cooking and we had a fantastic cake sale at the end raising about £15.00!


The best news is that some of the girls organised a cake sale at school for 3 days this week and raised a staggering amount of money which I will collect next week and tell you about. They did really well!

9th February

Last week we went swimming at the Taro in Petersfield which was great fun.


Tonight we were joined by the Liss Horticultural Society members Mike Boocock and Sharon Stratton who came in to judge the crocus plants that we planted last October.
Quite a few Brownies were off tonight due to school plays or illness so we had a small turnout of pots. However, 1st place was awarded to Isobel Davy, 2nd to Jessica Bryant and 3rd to Ella Woodhouse. They all got a small prize and a round of applause!

Next up, We made Valentines cards and bookmarks from the paper that we marbled a few weeks ago. It was an explosion of pink! Some lovely cards were made.

Finally, the time came for us to open our parcels from our 'Sister Pack' of Brownies in L.A!

There was great excitement as we handed out the letters and envelopes with goodies in them, the buzz in the air was great. We were sent instructions of how to make 'S'mores' - a traditional tasty campfire snack made with honey crackers, marshmallows and chocolate which we'll be making once the temperatures rise a bit. or a lot.

Half term means time to write back to our American penpals and give them a thrill upon opening their parcel like we had. Thank you troop 9915!

26th January

This week we started working on our Craft Badge.
Part of the badge is to weave something like a friendship bracelet. Quite a few Brownies bought kits in and we had a good selection of threads so they divided up into groups and made a good effort. There were some lovely bracelets but I don't have any photos as yet.
Brown owl set up a table in the corner and they all took turns in ' marbling' some paper.
We had 3 colours, orange pink and red and the results were great.
We'll be using this paper to make cards in two weeks time.

19th January

Chinese New Year!
We got started straight away on making Dragon's heads. Each Six had a box,  loads of crepe and tissue paper and lots of glue.
The results were amazing and all very individual.
They took turns to dance to some Chinese music and had a great hoot by the looks of it...

A very industrious meeting and lots of shredded paper everywhere!

We even managed to take a photo of our pack for our American Pen Pals!

Two Brownies plus an Owl were missing unfortunately- Lily, Abigail and Barn Owl.

Next week we are going to start working towards our Craft Badge by making friendship Bracelets and trying our hand at 'Marbling' some paper- sounds like a busy one!

SPRING TERM 2012 - 12th January

Welcome back!
We had a good first meeting of the new term where we talked about what we'll be doing. I told the girls about our 'Sister Troop' of Girl Scouts as they are known, in Los Angeles. They were firing questions and seemed very excited to find out about their new pen pals.
More on that later.

We made New Years resolution stars and they had to come up with 5 things to work towards. without much prompting, they all knew what they should be doing - being kind to siblings, arguing and answering back less, helping with chores and all sorts. Going to know it sinks in, all our 'going on' at them...!


We were joined by our very helpful DOE's from Bohunt School, Lucy and Emily.
We had a good game of 'guess what's in the bag' and the Tweenies made things to help them settle in.
All in all a good night.

December 7th- Village Christmas Fair

Another bit of divine intervention as far as the weather was concerned- a lovely clear night which bought loads of people out. Compared with the following day-wet, windy, revolting. Phew!


We had a bit of a buying frenzy shortly after setting up with the Chocolate Brownies selling like hot cakes ( or brownies..)
We could have sold twice the amount!
The baby owls went too along with half the bracelets so we have some stock for next summers fair at Newman Collard.


Some of the Brownies had practical maths lessons working out what change to give people! they all worked very hard when they were helping!
We took a very impressive £100!!! 


The Petersfield Herald took our photo so watch out for it in next weeks paper.

The real 24th November!

First, a catch up from last week having failed to post anything at all!
Last week we enrolled 5 new Brownies!
Jessica, Emily, Amy, Louisa and Abigail. They all said their promises perfectly and although I made a 'pond' as part of the ceremony, I forgot to use it until a Brownie helpfully reminded me! So we 'twisted them and turned them' all at the end!

We made  a start on our bracelets that we will be trying to sell on the stall at the Liss Christmas Village fair next Weds.


This week- Thursday 1st December


We were joined by two lovely girls, Lucy and Emma from Bohunt School who are working towards their DOE awards. They'll be helping us each week from January for 3 months!


After a quick catch up with the Home Skills Badge because some of the girls were away when we did stuff a few weeks ago, we went on to making bracelets again to build up some actual stock- the Brownies wanted to BUY their own bracelets so we had to make more!

Christmas presents were handed out- some gorgeous handmade owls by Mrs Stemp, Abigails Mum. What about these then?!

I love them!

I promoted several Brownies to Sixers and Seconders for next term and presented the leavers, Anna, Molly and Kayleigh with a badge, certificate and a small gift to say goodbye.
In the chaos of all that excitement- we forgot to do Brownie Bells and say goodbye properly.
