May Fayre May 26th

What a long, hot day but great weather!
We had a good stall this year selling lovely crafty handmade items from Liz Stemp which sold like hot cakes.
We had some very good guesses at the weight of the fruit and veg basket which was very full and you could only just lift it!
Gina Logan won in the end, a very close call.
Lots of little ones took advantage of our 'make a crown' activity to get out of the sun so all in all, a great day.
It was busy and the girls worked hard, taking it in turns to sell.

This week is our last meeting for a few weeks and we'll be enrolling our Tweenies at our Jubilee tea party.

19th May

Apologies for the lack of posts recently - It's been a busy time and no decent photos to share.

Last week we painted some jubilee style bunting- one piece each which we will string together this week and put up.

We also discussed how we were going to build our scarecrows for the scarecrow festival in June- we have lots of work to do as the girls decided to do one for each six!
It finally stopped raining so we got outside for a much needed game- we played Port, Starboard which was a hit and they begged us to keep goingagain and again!

SATURDAY 19th MAY

The Re-scheduled Car Boot Sale took place at West Liss Rec ( very handy, just outside the hut) and we had tons of things to sell thanks to all the donations- we made £97.40! astonishing! Well done to all that helped.

29th April

What a month! It's the wettest drought I've ever known...

We'd planned all sorts of outside activities after a winter of being cooped up in the hut, but that wasn't going to happen with this weather.
We cobbled together a meeting which in the end was great- we learnt how to do a fire drill, did a quiz for our World Guiding Badge and played a mad 'Commonwealth' game which had them all squealing with excitement.
We also got letters from our Girl Scout Troop in LA which was brilliant.

We kind of knew that The planned Car Boot sale wouldn't go ahead. The Rec is so sodden and on the day, the rain just didn't stop falling so the council were forced to cancel it.
We'll do another one at the Cricket Ground or Rogate soon. We have items in the footballer's changing rooms which we'll have to move.
Ah well.
The vagaries of the English weather.
If I tell you that I had planned a BBQ with the Liss Guides for Thursday's meeting, you'll think I'm mad. But I have! Help!

22nd March

This was the last meeting of the term and the girls bought in unfinished craft projects to be tested. Most of them got their craft badges at the end of the evening. 4 new Brownies were enrolled and 3 left.
Emily's mum kindly baked us some cakes which will be her last as Emily left tonight as well.
We managed to get outside for a run around game for our World Guiding Badge work which we all enjoyed after being cooped up in the hut all winter!

                                                              OOPS- that's not right!
" In and out the Brownie circle...."

More pictures soon!

1st March

We had half term and then had to cancel a meeting- that was going to be our 'Thinking day meeting'. Ah well, people get ill at this time of year!

So this week we played 'catch up' and managed to: Find out about our craft badge work, laid a table nicely for a proper english Cream Tea, prepared scones, whipped cream and made anzac biscuits. The Sixers and seconders wrote out a recipe for a scrapbook that we'll be putting together for our sister troop.

Mrs Goodyear kindly stepped in to help with cooking and we had a fantastic cake sale at the end raising about £15.00!

The best news is that some of the girls organised a cake sale at school for 3 days this week and raised a staggering amount of money which I will collect next week and tell you about. They did really well!

No photos as yet, but soon as they appear I'll post them.

NEXT WEEK: Yoga at church! Bring a mat if you can....

9th February

Last week we went swimming at the Taro in Petersfield which was great fun.

Tonight we were joined by the Liss Horticultural Society members Mike Boocock and Sharon Stratton who came in to judge the crocus plants that we planted last October.
Quite a few Brownies were off tonight due to school plays or illness so we had a small turnout of pots. However, 1st place was awarded to Isobel Davy, 2nd to Jessica Bryant and 3rd to Ella Woodhouse. They all got a small prize and a round of applause!

Next up, We made Valentines cards and bookmarks from the paper that we marbled a few weeks ago. It was an explosion of pink! Some lovely cards were made.

Finally, the time came for us to open our parcels from our 'Sister Pack' of Brownies in L.A!
There was great excitement as we handed out the letters and envelopes with goodies in them, the buzz in the air was great. We were sent instructions of how to make 'S'mores' - a traditional tasty campfire snack made with honey crackers, marshmallows and chocolate which we'll be making once the temperatures rise a bit. or a lot.
Half term means time to write back to our American penpals and give them a thrill upon opening their parcel like we had. Thank you troop 9915!

Back on 23rd February for 'Thinking Day'
